Austin Bombings Suspect Identified as a ‘Conservative’ Who Said ‘Gay Marriage Should Be Illegal’

‘We Shouldn’t Even Have This Problem!’ of Same-Sex Marriage Conditt Said

Mark Conditt, the suspect in the Austin, Texas bombings who blew himself up overnight, wrote a blog for a college course in which he described himself as a “conservative,” argued that same-sex marriage should be “illegal” because it is “unnatural,” and even thought the sex offender registry list should not exist.

Conditt, described as a 24-year old white male who was homeschooled until college, is believed to be responsible for the deaths of two people and the injuries of at least five others. Some have called him a terrorist. The Austin American-Statesman first reported the existence of the blog.

Conditt also argued that women should not have access to free abortions, and should not engage in sex if they cannot support a child. In 2012 Conditt wrote, “if a women does not want a baby, or is incapable of taking care of one, she should not participate in activities that were made for that reason.”

In a post titled, “Why gay marriage should be illegal,” Conditt argued that “falling in love is a choice,” and “the government shouldn’t tell them whom they can and cannot marry, but we shouldn’t even have this problem!  Homosexuality is not natural. Just look at the male and female bodies. They are obviously designed to couple. The natural design is apparent. It is not natural to couple male with male and female with female.”

He also stated, “I do not believe it is proper to pass laws stating that homosexuals have ‘rights.'”
