WATCH: Marco Rubio Repeatedly Booed at Guns Town Hall

Rubio Thinks Banning All Semi-Automatic Weapons Is a ‘Problem’

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was repeatedly booed while talking to a parent who called his comments last week after the Parkland, Florida high school mass shooting “pathetically weak.”

The audience delivered a standing and cheering ovation to the parent, Fred Guttenberg, who lost a daughter one week ago on Valentine’s Day.

Senator Rubio tried to not answer the parent’s question, were guns a factor in the shooting that took his child and 16 other people.

Look at me and tell me guns were the factor in the hunting of our kids,” Guttenberg pleaded, “and you will work with us to do something about guns?”

Sen. Rubio was booed when he responded, “Let me tell you what I said last week.”

Rubio dodged the question, until forced to say yes.

He also explained why he thinks a ban on assault weapons won’t work, suggesting also that it’s impossible to define what assault weapons are. That earned him boos as well.

“What I believe a better answer would be” is to ban people with mental health issues from owning guns, rather than banning any guns, Rubio said.

He also said “the problem” with a ban on AR-15s is “you would have to ban every semi-automatic rifle sold in America.” The audience cheered the “problem.”
