Trump Tweets Support for Changes to Gun Laws – Just Like He Did With DACA, Healthcare, the Opioid Crisis…

Will He Keep His Word?

The listening session President Trump held, despite having needed to be armed with an empathy crib sheet, appears to have impacted him. Will it last? Will he care enough next week to push for the changes he just committed to via a tweet?

After speaking on Wednesday with students, parents, and teachers affected by the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, President Trump Thursday morning posted a series of tweets ranting about how he never said he wanted to arm teachers – then proceeded to explain how he wanted to arm teachers.

But Thursday morning he later tweeted that he now supports “pushing Comprehensive Background Checks with an emphasis on Mental Health. Raise age to 21 and end sale of Bump Stocks!”

It’s unclear what he wants to raise the age to 21 for, but presumably it is the sale of military style assault weapons, which the NRA strongly opposes.

The real question of course is will this president have the fortitude to drive these changes to fruition, or are they merely feel-good claims that will maker it appear he’s doing something while planning exactly how to blame the Democrats for his failures – as he has done on ObamaCare repeal, fixing DACA after he broke it, and the opioid crisis.
