Trump Teases on Release of Democratic Memo – Is He Releasing It or Not?

Trump Will Release ‘It’ Soon. What’s ‘It’?

One week after he declassified and authorized the release of a confidential Republican memo penned by Republican Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes, President Trump still has not said if he will do the same for the Democratic response.

Trump had five days after the House Intelligence Committee voted unanimously to send it to the president asking him to release it to the public. That time is up Saturday.

Seconds after he defended his former staff secretary who is accused of domestic violence against both his ex-wives, Trump told reporters he would be releasing the Democratic memo, then immediately switched to say he would be releasing a letter.

“It’s going to be released soon,” Trump told reporters exiting the Oval Office. “We’re going to release a letter soon.”

“It’s going to be released soon,” is very different from “We’re going to release a letter soon.”

Trump could declassify the Democratic memo and sent back to the House for release, as he did with the Nunes memo.

He could decide to not declassify or release it.

He could greatly redact portions of it and then release it.

The letter the president mentioned could be an explanation of why he chose any of those options.

All we know, contrary to reports elsewhere, is that he will release “it” soon.
