Right Wing Radio Host: Conversion Therapy Can Work if Men ‘Make Better Sexual Choices’

“Don’t Let Satan Lie to You,” Bryan Fischer Says

Infamously homophobic and religious right wing radio host Bryan Fischer believes the disastrous and dangerous practice of conversion therapy can work because “every sex act is a choice.”

The former Director of Issues Analysis for the hate group American Family Association (AFA) used the war of words between anti-LGBTQ Vice President Mike Pence and out Olympic competitors Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippon to weigh in on the matter.

“Re: Mike Pence and the gay skater: Of course conversion therapy can work,” Fischer tweeted, sharing a New York Times article. “This is for the simple reason that every sex act is a choice. As free moral agents made in the image of God, men can learn to make different and better sexual choices.”

“I did this,” one Twitter user challenged him. “I’ve never tried harder at any other thing in my whole life. I tried it for years. It doesn’t. Work.”

“It can be a long and difficult road, but with good support and retraining your mind to constantly tell yourself the truth about your true sexual identity, you can in time overcome,” Fischer responded. “Don’t let Satan lie to you and convince you that your true identity is that of a homosexual.”

Fischer has an extensive history of making ridiculous claims. Last year, he advised the LGBT community “stole the rainbow from God” in the “worst example of cultural appropriation ever.” He also said it’s “time to have the LGBT flag banned right alongside the Confederate flag.”
