REPORT: Trump Looking for a ‘Killer’ to Shakeup White House

Trump’s ‘Braintrust’ Includes Sean Hannity, Jason Miller, Corey Lewandowski, Reince Priebus, and Ronna McDaniel

President Donald Trump has had more turnover – much of it not of his choosing – in his poorly-staffed administration than any president in modern history, but that is not going to stop him from creating more. According to a new report by Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman, the president is looking for a “killer” to help in the White House’s strategy and response to the Mueller investigation in a “West Wing reset,” especially in the wake of Steve Bannon’s unceremonious exit.

Not surprisingly, Ivanka Trump is behind the push for a shakeup. And Sherman reveals Trump regrets previous top administration staffing choices, wishing he had made Rudy Giuliani his Secretary of State and Chris Christie his Attorney General.

“According to sources, Trump speaks regularly by phone with a braintrust that includes Sean Hannity, Jason Miller, Corey Lewandowski, Reince Priebus, and R.N.C. Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel,” Sherman reports.

Trump’s “top choice for the strategist position is Jason Miller, who served as communications director for Trump’s presidential campaign. ‘He wants a killer, and Jason is a killer,’ an outside adviser to the White House told me. Trump had wanted Miller to join the administration during the transition, but Miller withdrew after it was revealed he had an extramarital affair during the campaign with former Trump aide A.J. Delgado.”

Miller, pictured above, is now a CNN contributor and Managing Director at Teneo Strategy.

Sherman’s reporting shows the White House is playing games with the lives of millions of undocumented immigrants.

Miller has advised Trump to push for an immigration deal that shows real progress towards building the Wall, the theory being that getting a win on immigration will mobilize the base in November,” Sherman writes. “Instead,” he notes, Trump’s advisers “want him to sign an extension for DACA so that immigration is a midterm election issue (the theory being that putting immigration on the ballot will mobilize the base).”

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are against bringing Trump’s former campaign manager and noted hothead Corey Lewandowski back into the fold.

They have blocked Corey at every turn. They kept him from going into [the] family box at the inaugural,” one former campaign staffer told me. “If Corey gets back in, they’re not long for the place.”
