New Donald Trump Jr Word Salad Includes a Few Interesting Claims – Like McCabe Was ‘Fired’
Is the President’s Son Revealing Inside Information? Or Lying? Or Just Uninformed?
Donald Trump Jr just posted two tweets that amount to a big word salad but if you can take a moment to wake through them, they include a few interesting – or just false – claims.
First, Trump Jr. claims Andrew McCabe was “fired.” McCabe of course is the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation who suddenly left his job on Monday after announcing he would retire in March. He is still on the FBI payroll. Some reports state he was forced out, some say he would have been demoted over political pressure had he not left, and others state FBI Director Wray announced McCabe stepped aside after learning of an impending FBIÂ inspector general report.
But Donald Trump Jr. just shared inside information, apparently, saying McCabe was fired. Or he’s just wrong.
It was good enough to fire McCabe, no one argues its factually inaccurate, but now days later they want to protect the names of those involved in a scandal that was big enough to fire a senior official a month before retirement? They don’t deserve a pass on that!

He also claims, falsely, that “All of congress has seen” the Nunes memo.
That’s false, unless he thinks “all of Congress” does not include the Senate and most Democrats.
But perhaps the most embarrassing part of Trump Jr’s claim is “no one argues” the Nunes memo is “factually inaccurate.”
Someone has not been paying attention – or watching just Fox News.
The FBI accused Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes of “material omissions of fact” in his memo – basically, lying.
Intelligence Committee Ranking Member, Democrat Adam Schiff, has stated the memo has “profound distortions and inaccuracies,” in other words, it is not only false, but was falsified after House Republicans voted to release it to the public.
Nancy Pelosi used the words “bogus,” “charade,” and “elaborately dishonest” in describing Nunes’ actions and memo.
Basically, those who don’t want it released don’t want it released in part because it’s “factually inaccurate.”
There are four main reasons Democrats and the Dept. of Justice, including the FBI, do not want it released.
First, because it is factually inaccurate.
Second, because it contains classified information.
Third, because it includes information about ongoing investigations.
Fourth, because it reveals how the FBI obtains information, and will make it easier for the Russians to harm America.
Some responses via Twitter:
MSNBC producer:
Is Don Jr. really saying that McCabe was fired and didn’t resign? Or is he just misstating facts? This seems potentially significant. https://t.co/xd1K7KnMWn

CNN’s Jake Tapper seems surprised:
Don Jr continuing to argue the Nunes memo was a reason for the McCabe firing. Is that correct, @whignewtons & @PressSec ? https://t.co/rfiVdRa8J9

NBC’s Peter Alexander asks if Jr is “totally uninformed”:
Does DJT Jr. know something or is he totally uninformed? The White House says Trump had no idea McCabe was stepping aside until it happened. https://t.co/7hTdRWW7Ok

Daily Beast editor:
No one, not even Fox News, has said McCabe was fired because of the memo. Is Don Jr. getting this impression from dad? https://t.co/duwOsvHPCW

Political science professor:
Ummm, did Jr publicly just admit that McCabe was fired? Good thing no one in the Trump clan is brighter than a dim bulb… https://t.co/CyJEFwaoib
