Comey Tweets About ‘Weasels and Liars’ and Joe McCarthy

‘Not a Lot of Schools or Streets Named for Joe McCarthy’

Former FBI Director James Comey Thursday evening posted a tweet defending the FBI and apparently comparing Republicans who are pushing to release the Nunes memo to “weasels and liars” and the late, disgraced U.S. Senator Joe McCarthy. Presumably that would include President Donald Trump.

All should appreciate the FBI speaking up,” Comey tweeted, a nod to the statement FBI Director Christopher Wray must have approved accusing Chairman Devin Nunes’ memo of containing “material omissions of fact.” Wray has been rumored to be considering resigning if Trump releases the classified memo.

“I wish more of our leaders would,” Comey continued. “But take heart: American history shows that, in the long run, weasels and liars never hold the field, so long as good people stand up,” he added, clearly attacking the GOP.

“Not a lot of schools or streets named for Joe McCarthy,” Comey concluded.

In other words, Comey is saying truth and goodness will prevail.

In the long run.
