WATCH: Will Ferrell’s ‘George Dubya’ Returns to SNL to Remind Americans ‘I Was Really Bad’

“Donny Q. Trump Came In and Suddenly I’m Looking Pretty Sweet”

Comedian and “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) alum Will Ferrell returned to host this weekend’s episode of the popular sketch comedy show – and he brought an old friend.

Ferrell spent years portraying former President George “Dubya” Bush, often hilariously, and addressed the nation during last night’s cold open from an Oval Office set he had “built in my basement in Texas, so I can pretend to still be president sometimes.”

“Good evening. Thank you. It is I, George W. Bush,” Ferrell began. “I know what you’re thinkin’ – what the heck is this handsome devil doin’ back in the Oval Office?”

“I don’t know if you’ve read the news lately, I certainly have not,” he continued, “I’ve been too busy doing oil paintings – actually getting my MFA from the University of Phoenix online… but according to a new poll, my approval rating is at an all-time high. That’s right: Donnie Q. Trump came in and suddenly I’m looking pretty sweet by comparison. At this rate, I might even end up on Mount Rushmore. Right next to Washington, Lincoln, and I wanna say… Kingsington?”

Ferrell advised that “the point is, I’m suddenly popular A-F. And a lot of people are sayin’ ‘man, I wish George W. Bush was still our president right about now.’ So I just wanted to address my fellow Americans last night and remind you guys… that I was really bad,” he said to applause and cheers.

“So I get why you don’t like this current guy. Heck, I voted for Jill Stein all the way,” Ferrell mused, before turning to the “two different wars that I started” and weighing in on ISIS, the stock market, the media and Dick Cheney.

The comedian also compared himself to Trump, noting that they both lost the popular vote – but noted that “back in my day, we didn’t let Russians rig out elections. We used the Supreme Court like Americans.”

The full sketch, which also features a song with Leslie Jones as Condoleezza Rice, can be seen below:
