Watch: Trump Heads for the Door When Reporters Ask ‘Mr. President Are You a Racist?’

“Mr. President Did You Refer to African Nations as ‘Shitholes’?”

President Trump attended a scheduled signing of a proclamation for Martin Luther King Jr. Day late Friday morning, less than 24 hours after having made offensive racist remarks about Haiti and African nations. During the short ceremony the president told attendees, “I will now sign the proclamation making January 15, 2018 the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday, and encourage all Americans to observe this day with acts of civic work and community service in honor of Dr. King‘s extraordinary life…and it was extraordinary indeed.”

And then, he shook hands of those surrounding him, as reporters began to ask questions.

“Mr. President will you give an apology for the statement yesterday?”

“Mr. President did you refer to African nations as ‘shitholes’?”

“Mr. President are you a racist?”

“Mr. President, will you respond to these serious questions about your statement, sir?”

And again, “Mr. President, are you a racist?”

Trump did not respond or acknowledge any of the reporters. Instead, he quickly headed for the door and left, with his guests still milling about.
