President Donald Trump unleashed an insane tweetstorm Tuesday morning, claiming his border wall must be built, claiming it will help stop drugs from coming into the country, claiming Democrats want a government shutdown, claiming a shutdown will harm the military, and more.

It is fascistic fear at its finest.

Since the early days of his presidential campaign Donald Trump has been calling for a massive wall to be built on America’s border with Mexico. He also promised countless times that Mexico would pay for his wall. There was never any reason to believe that would happen, but Trump’s cult of supporters bought the lie. Now that it’s clear Mexico will never pay for Trump’s wall, he’s still trying to get it built, and trying to get the American taxpayers to foot the bill.

Tuesday morning, in a clear attempt to change the national conversation from his racist “shithole countries” remarks about immigration, Trump posted a tweet demanding his “WALL” be built.

And he lied about why.

Trump’s own Chief of Staff, General John Kelly, when he was head of Homeland Security, admitted most illegal drugs come in through conventional means: the U.S. ports.

“The wall won’t stop the flow of drugs into the United States,” Vanda Felbab-Brown, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, told FactCheck.org.

Trump didn’t stop there Tuesday morning. Try to count the number of lies he wove into this tweet:

Literally not one word is true.

Republicans control the majority in the House and Senate. They control the White House. Heck, there’s even a conservative majority at the Supreme Court.

Trump doesn’t need Democrats to fund the government – or wouldn’t if he had been doing his job to ensure a funding bill was getting enough GOP support to pass by Friday. Democrats are not pushing for “Amnesty for all,” whatever that is. Democrats do want border security, except we want the kind that will work. 

A government shutdown does not shutdown the U.S. military. 

Trump’s idea of a “merit-based” immigration system is more people from Norway, none from Haiti, El Salvador, or African nations.

The “lottery” isn’t dangerous, but Trump’s clear lack of understanding it is. Immigrants who come to the U.S. via the visa lottery program are screened. 

Trump then posted this false tweet, claiming the media doesn’t cover the economy:

Trump wasn’t done yet.

He clearly has been using “executive time” rather than running the country, and watching “Fox & Friends”:

Maybe 90% of what Trump does is negative.

The president apparently has been reading Breitbart again. On Sunday the website ran this story: “Donald Trump’s Support Among Blacks Has Doubled Since 2016, Amid Racism Claims.”
