Trump Tweets ‘Much Work to Be Done’ After Promising ‘It’s Back to Work’ After Christmas – And Golfing Every Day Instead
Trump Has Taken More Vacations in 10 Months Than Obama Did in 8 Years
No one should begrudge a president a vacation. If anything, especially with this president, the less time doing anything the better for America. But his constant lies are the problem, one Americans are all to familiar with now.
President Donald Trump is the physical embodiment of the “joke” many ask: “Working hard, or hardly working?” Trump is the latter.
On Christmas Day President Trump promised “tomorrow it’s back to work” – then went golfing at Mar-a-Lago instead, every single day. MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin daily tracks Trump’s visits to Trump-branded properties. For those keeping track, here’s today’s:
Trump starts his day at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
This is his 117th day at a Trump property as president.

Per pool, Trump has arrived at Trump International Golf Club.
This is his 91st day at a golf club as president.

Today is New Year’s Day, and Trump once again is insisting he’s such a hard worker:
Will be leaving Florida for Washington (D.C.) today at 4:00 P.M. Much work to be done, but it will be a great New Year!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 1, 2018
Clearly Trump is aware he is seen as less-than-hard-working: So many times he has told his supporters (who tend to believe anything he says) that he is working hard, even on legitimate vacations. He tries to project that he’s always working, when in fact he has had more time off in his first year as president than probably any other in modern history.
As of late November, according to The Washington Post, Trump has taken 35 vacations (not vacation days) in his first ten months. That means Trump has taken more vacations in 10 months than President Barack Obama took (29 vacations) in his entire eight years in office.
Some examples of Trump claiming to be “working hard” (when he wasn’t):
Working in Bedminster, N.J., as long planned construction is being done at the White House. This is not a vacation – meetings and calls!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 5, 2017
Rather than causing a big disruption in N.Y.C., I will be working out of my home in Bedminster, N.J. this weekend. Also saves country money!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 5, 2017
Will be having meetings and working the phones from the Winter White House in Florida (Mar-a-Lago). Stock Market hit new Record High yesterday – $5.5 trillion gain since E. Many companies coming back to the U.S. Military building up and getting very strong.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 22, 2017
Heading back to Washington after working hard and watching some of the worst and most dishonest Fake News reporting I have ever seen!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 20, 2017
I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana). MAKING PROGRESS – Will know soon!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 24, 2016
Will be working all weekend in choosing the great men and women who will be helping to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 18, 2016
And given his attacks on Obama, well, Trump’s record is stunning:
The habitual vacationer, @BarackObama, has sacrificed so much. He is delaying his 17 day Hawaii vacation a couple of hours.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 14, 2011
President @BarackObama‘s vacation is costing taxpayers millions of dollars—-Unbelievable!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 5, 2012
Why is @BarackObama always campaigning or on vacation?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 17, 2011
Pres. Obama is about to embark on a 17 day vacation in his ‘native’ Hawaii, putting Secret Service away from families on Christmas. Aloha!
