Trump Tries to Block Publication of Bombshell Book Exposing His Presidency

Claims ‘Numerous False and/or Baseless Statements’

The attorney for President Donald Trump has sent a letter to the publisher of a bombshell book demanding they cease publication or dissemination of its contents.

Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” by journalist Michael Wolff, dominated headlines Wednesday as revelations about the disastrous Trump White House were shared in various media outlets.

“We are investigating numerous false and/or baseless statements that you have made about Mr. Trump,” attorney Charles Harder says in his notice to publisher Henry Holt and Co., as ABC News reports.

The letter says Wolff has engaged in malice, and claims, in part, some “alleged ‘sources’ of statements about Mr. Trump are believed to have no personal knowledge of the facts upon which they are making statements or are known to be unreliable and/or strongly biased against Mr. Trump.”

Right wing media has been working to discredit the book.

Some reporters and officials are calling the book sloppy, and challenging specific passages,” Axios reports:

  • How could Wolff possibly know for sure what Steve Bannon and the late Roger Ailes said at a private dinner?
  • It turns out Wolff hosted the dinner for six at his Manhattan townhouse.

As far as the “numerous false and/or baseless statements,” Axios notes that Wolff “has tapes to back up quotes in his incendiary book — dozens of hours of them.” Yes, unlike Donald Trump, Wolff actually does have the tapes.

The book’s description on Amazon includes this description:

In this explosive book, Wolff provides a wealth of new details about the chaos in the Oval Office. Among the revelations:
— What President Trump’s staff really thinks of him
— What inspired Trump to claim he was wire-tapped by President Obama
— Why FBI director James Comey was really fired
— Why chief strategist Steve Bannon and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner couldn’t be in the same room
— Who is really directing the Trump administration’s strategy in the wake of Bannon’s firing
— What the secret to communicating with Trump is
— What the Trump administration has in common with the movie The Producers

The move is being called “Nixonian.”
