White House Says It Will Not Allow ‘A Few Bad Actors’ to ‘Tarnish’ the FBI but Trump Says It’s ‘In Tatters’

FBI’s Reputation Is ‘Worst in History!’ Trump Said Last Month

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the Trump administration is not going to let anyone “tarnish” the FBI’s reputation.

“Look, we’re not going to let a few bad actors tarnish the entire group,” Huckabee Sanders told reporters Wednesday afternoon amid questions about the president’s confidence in FBI Director Chris Wray. News reports have been circulating that Wray threatened to resign if Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions did not stop pressuring him to fire Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe.

News broke Tuesday night that – in a stunning breach of protocol – President Trump had asked McCabe face-to-face who he voted for. Law enforcement agents and non-elected public servants are not supposed to appear political, nor should they be questioned about their voting habits.

Republican lawmakers too have been attacking the FBI nonstop for weeks. Tuesday night GOP Senator Ron Johnson took to Fox News to claim there is a “secret society” within the Bureau that meets in an undisclosed off-site location. He offered zero proof but accomplished his mission: to try to discredit the FBI, which is investigating members of the Trump team.

But it’s President Donald Trump who has done the most damage to the FBI’s reputation.

Last month Trump tweeted that the FBI’s reputation is “in tatters” and the “worst in history!”

Just weeks ago Trump claimed the FBI was in collusion with Hillary Clinton.

A year ago he put out a call to “find the leakers within the FBI itself” after tweeting it was incapable of doing so:

Trump even quoted “Fox & Friends” saying, “FBI TAINTED.”

So the question become, who exactly are the “bad actors”?
