Claims Ad Not Being Done by the White House, Despite President’s Statement He Approves Its Message
Sarah Sanders says President Trump calling Democrats “complicit” in murder is just his way of protecting national security. The White House press secretary was responding to a question Monday afternoon about the Trump presidential campaign’s release of a highly controversial video, which Trump approved, that says: “Democrats who stand in our way will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants.”
“Look, the president’s number one focus is our national security, he’s been very strong on discussing the need for border security, and tying that directly to national security. That’s a big focus of the president’s campaign at the time, and also since he’s become president.”
Huckabee Sanders went on to distance herself from the ad, saying, “those aren’t being done by the White House, and I can’t get into any details.”
And while they “aren’t being done by the White House” directly, she claims, they are not being done by a “third party,” as White House spokesperson Marc Short falsely claimed Sunday.
Earlier Monday, on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Huckabee Sanders said it is “absolutely appropriate” for Trump to accuse Democrats of being “complicit” in murder.
