REPORT: Trump Wants to Fire His ‘Nut Job’ Chief of Staff John Kelly – Ivanka Searching for Replacement

‘Church Lady’

On July 31 President Donald Trump praised his incoming chief of staff (above), but from day one it was clear the two did not get along. Former General John Kelly runs a tight ship, and immediately began putting up roadblocks to Trump’s management style.

As the head of a relatively small and privately-owned family business Donald Trump – who does not generally use a computer, sans his cell phone – had an open-door policy. As soon as Kelly took over from ousted chief of staff Reince Priebus, that open door swung shut.

Among those Kelly targeted were Omarosa, whose “official” last day at the White House was Saturday.

Kelly worked to curtail Trump’s access to far right wing “news” reports but Omarosa reportedly was a grenade thrower who liked to rile up the president by sliding articles under his Oval Office door.

Trump has found ways to work around Kelly’s strict management, secretly calling his BFFs from the residence, although he does not like it.

But Kelly stepped over the line last week.

White House chief of staff John Kelly told Democratic lawmakers Wednesday that some of President Donald Trump’s positions as a candidate on the border wall were ‘uninformed,'” CNN reported.

And now that Kelly has committed the sin of getting press and of reportedly challenging the President, he’s on the outs.

Vanity Fair‘s Gabriel Sherman reports Trump and Kelly’s relationship “may finally have gone past the point of no return.”

These may be the most telling portions of Sherman’s report:

Trump’s anger at Kelly’s immigration comments is the latest flare-up in a relationship that has been deteriorating for months. A four-star marine general, Kelly was never going to be an easy fit in a West Wing with a Lord of the Flies office culture. Staffers have bristled at Kelly’s rectitude, nicknaming him “the Church Lady,” a former official said.

“The more Kelly plays up that he’s being the adult in the room—that it’s basically combat duty and he’s serving the country—that kind of thing drives Trump nuts,” a Republican close to the White House said. In recent days, Trump has fumed to friends that Kelly acts like he’s running the government while Trump tweets and watches television. “I’ve got another nut job here who thinks he’s running things,” Trump told one friend, according to a Republican briefed on the call. A second source confirmed that Trump has vented about Kelly, mentioning one call in which Trump said, “This guy thinks he’s running the show.”

Naturally, Ivanka Trump is the one in charge of searching for a replacement for Kelly.

“Ivanka is also playing a central role in the search, quietly field-testing ideas with people. ‘Ivanka is the most worried about it. She’s trying to figure who replaces Kelly,’ a person who’s spoken with her said.”
