REPORT: Bannon Says Mueller Will ‘Crack Don Junior Like an Egg’ Over ‘Treasonous’ Trump Tower Russia Meeting
‘You Should Have Called the FBI Immediately’ Bannon Says of the Meeting
Steve Bannon says special counsel Robert Mueller will crack Donald Trump Jr. “like an egg” over his June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer in which he was hoping to be given “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. The report comes from The Guardian‘s detailing of a new book by journalist Michael Wolff, the man who literally wrote the book on Rupert Murdoch.
Having served as the CEO of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign before becoming his White House Chief Strategist, Steve Bannon is the publisher of Breitbart, a website he calls the platform for the “alt-right.”
Bannon “has described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as ‘treasonous’ and ‘unpatriotic,'” The Guardian reports, citing Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.
“The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor – with no lawyers,” Bannon reportedly says in the book. “They didn’t have any lawyers.”
“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately,” Bannon observes.
Bannon went on, Wolff writes, to say that if any such meeting had to take place, it should have been set up “in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these peopleâ€. Any information, he said, could then be “dump[ed] … down to Breitbart or something like that, or maybe some other more legitimate publicationâ€.
Bannon added: “You never see it, you never know it, because you don’t need to … But that’s the brain trust that they had.â€
Bannon doesn’t stop there.
“You realise where this is going,†he is quoted as saying. “This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to fucking Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr and Jared Kushner … It’s as plain as a hair on your face.â€
Fox News anchor Bret Baier weighs in:
This — more than other news commentary and speculation —on the record from Steve Bannon — IS a potential big problem for @realDonaldTrump https://t.co/Y028ARg0px

More responses via Twitter:
Also, these Bannon quotes completely undermine 1.5 years of Trump denials and Breitbart coverage deriding the Russia investigations as a Democratic hoax.
He’s saying there’s a ‘there’ there.

So is the Wolff book the reason Trump went on a Twitter bender yesterday or what? https://t.co/0AIYHCCBJ3
