Psychiatry Professor Tells Congress Trump Is ‘Going to Unravel’ and ‘Will Become Uncontainable’
Psychiatrists Say Trump ‘Is Now Further Unraveling in Ways That Contribute to His Belligerent Nuclear Threats’
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill secretly invited a Yale University psychiatry professor to talk with them President Donald Trump’s mental state last month. Dr. Bandy X. Lee warned them just how unstable the president is – and she says he’s going to get worse.
Dr. Lee last month spoke with over a dozen Representatives and Senators – all Democrats, except for one Republican – telling them President Trump is “going to unravel, and we are seeing the signs,” Politico reports.
In an interview, she pointed to Trump “going back to conspiracy theories, denying things he has admitted before, his being drawn to violent videos.†Lee also warned, “We feel that the rush of tweeting is an indication of his falling apart under stress. Trump is going to get worse and will become uncontainable with the pressures of the presidency.â€
On Wednesday, one month after Dr. Lee’s conversations with lawmakers, she and two other psychiatrists released a statement on behalf of the National Coalition of Concerned Mental Health Experts. Politico notes the announcement, signed by over 100 medical professionals, was written in response to Trump’s concerning tweet taunting the leader of North Korea over the size of their respective nuclear launch buttons.
Citing “Donald Trump’s psychological aberrations,” the mental health professionals say they believe President Trump “is now further unraveling in ways that contribute to his belligerent nuclear threats.”
“We urge that those around him, and our elected representatives in general, take urgent steps to restrain his behavior and head off the potential nuclear catastrophe that endangers not only Korea and the United States but all of humankind.â€
