Internet Explodes With Calls for ‘Oprah 2020’ as Her Powerful Golden Globes Speech Goes Viral (Full Video)
‘I Want All of the Girls Watching Here Now to Know, That a New Day Is on the Horizon’
Oprah Winfrey became the first Black woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award Sunday night at the Golden Globes and her acceptance speech, while mostly apolitical, has gone viral, sparking “Oprah 2020” speculation – and demand.Â

“So I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon!” she said in a key portion of her nine-minute speech. “And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say, ‘Me too’ again.”

Axios notes that “Oprah hits all the right notes at just the right time for a media obsession. She’s not a white man, she’s liberal, she’s flirted with the notion of running, she’s a voice for women and the abused in a sullied Hollywood industry, she’s famous. She’s the anti-Trump, which helps explain this morning’s over-the-top political speculation about a nine minute speech.”
Many are trying to make the case or convince her:
Still, Ms. Winfrey could face a difficult fight for the Democratic nomination, especially against _________

Oprah 2020? Look at the data. If she runs against Trump in a general election, there’s no question. She would win. https://t.co/ebiPrdtmwv

Winfrey’s longterm partner Stedman Graham told the LA Times, “She would absolutely do it.” But he cautioned, “It’s up to the people.”
