GOP Senator Claims There’s a ‘Secret Society’ in the FBI and ‘Corruption at the Highest Levels’
‘So Much Smoke There’ GOP Senator Says – Offering Exactly Zero Proof
A Republican Senator insists there is a “secret society” within the Federal Bureau of Investigation that has been holding off-site meetings since President Donald Trump took office. Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin told Fox News’ Bret Baier Tuesday night he has an informant who revealed the existence of the clandestine group of FBI agents.
“What this is all about is further evidence of corruption – more than bias – but corruption at the highest levels of the FBI,” Senator Johnson alleged on Fox News’ “Special Report.”
“And that secret society? We have an informant that’s talking about a group – they were holding secret meetings off site. There is so much smoke there, there’s so much suspicion –” Johnson excitedly proclaimed before Baier interrupted him.
“Whoa. Let’s stop there,” a somewhat disbelieving Baier interjected. “A secret society, secret meetings off-site of the Justice Department? And you have an informant saying that?”
“Yes,” Johnson replied.
“Is there anything more about that?” Baier asked.
“No. We have to dig in to it,” Johnson, apparently unprepared for outback, responded. “This is not a distraction. Again, this is bias, potential corruption at the highest levels of the FBI that is now investigating – and by the way, Robert Mueller used to run the FBI. He is in no position to do an investigation over this kind of misconduct.”

Johnson, having done his part to fulfill the GOP’s goal of discrediting the FBI and Robert Mueller so any charges against President Trump and his team are seen by the Republican rank-and-file as baseless, made one last claim.
“I think at this point in time we probably should be looking at a special counsel to undertake this investigation.”
Mission accomplished.
Talking Points Memo editor Josh Marshall calls Johnson’s allegations “simply crazy.”
“This isn’t some caller into CSPAN. This is a United States Senator,” he notes.
Johnson isn’t the only one talking about a “secret society” in the FBI.
Here’s Fox Business News host Lou Dobbs, going all-in on the GOP crazy “secret society” talking points:

This isn’t “news,” this is a right wing machine, fueled by Republicans and Fox News, manufacturing endless loops of conspiracy theories right before our eyes.
