Dianne Feinstein Releases Complete 312 Page Sworn Testimony From Founder of Firm Behind Trump-Russia Dossier

‘Bombshell’ ‘Big’ ‘Kaboom’

Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has just released the entire 312-page transcript of the sworn testimony from an interview with Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of Fusion GPS, the firm that commissioned the explosive Trump-Russia dossier. Much of the dossier has been substantiated, none of it has been disproven. The document, which was published in full by Buzzfeed after CNN broke the news of its existence, was drafted by former British MI6 intelligence officer Christopher Steele.

Senator Feinstein released the document against the wishes of Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley.

“After speaking with majority and minority committee staff for 10 hours, Glenn Simpson requested the transcript of his interview be released publicly,” Senator Feinstein said in a statement. “The American people deserve the opportunity to see what he said and judge for themselves.”

“The innuendo and misinformation circulating about the transcript are part of a deeply troubling effort to undermine the investigation into potential collusion and obstruction of justice. The only way to set the record straight is to make the transcript public,” the California Democratic Senator added.

The Trump-Russia dossier itself asserts strong ties between Donald Trump and Russia, offers salacious sexual details, and is highly incendiary.

The complete transcript of the Simpson interview can be read via Senator Feinstein’s website. (There is an additional two-page list of corrections.)

CNBC notes the name “Trump” appears in the transcript 171 times.

“The release of the transcript, Feinstein said, was supported by committee Democrats,” CNBC adds.

The move follows committee a decision by Republicans Chuck Grassley, who is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Lindsey Graham to issue a criminal referral last week against Christopher Steele, the former British spy who authored the largely unverified “Trump dossier.”

Simpson touches on a wide array of topics, including Trump’s business ties and his connection to Felix Sater, who is reputed to have links to Russian organized crime.

CNN’s Senior Congressional Correspondent calls the release a “bombshell.”

A Business Insider Political Correspondent and MSNBC producer both call it “big.”

Washington Post’s Greg Sargent: “Kaboom”:
