Washington Post: Mueller Wants to Interview Trump About Firing Comey and Flynn

Obstruction of Justice?

The Washington Post has just reported that Special Counsel Robert Mueller wants to interview President Donald Trump in the next few weeks about his decisions to fire now-former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and now-former FBI Director James Comey.

Mueller’s interest in the events that led Trump to push out Flynn and Comey indicates that his investigation is intensifying its focus on possible efforts by the president or others to obstruct or blunt the special counsel’s probe,” The Post reports.

Trump’s attorney are working on negotiating terms that could include allowing the president to answer questions via a written statement as well as in-person.

This ABC News report from May of 2017 sums up much of where this case appears to be headed:

Earlier Tuesday The New York Times reported Robert Mueller interviewed Comey last year, and in stunning news, that his investigation has now entered trump’s Cabinet: Mueller interviewed Attorney General Jeff Sessions last week.
