‘Uncomfortable’ Ivanka Trump Reportedly Had Activist Chef and Trump Critic José Andrés Removed from Event

“A New Low for Washington”

Ivanka Trump reportedly forced celebrity chef and activist José Andrés out of Saturday night’s annual Alfalfa Club dinner after-party at Washington D.C.’s Cafe Milano because his presence made her uncomfortable.

As The Washington Post reported ahead of this year’s event, the event is an “exclusive society of chief executives, politicos and philanthropists” which “gathers for one purpose — to drink and hobnob in the nation’s capital. That’s it.”

According to Andrés, he was a guest of the dinner, and was planning to attend the after-party where “everyone” was welcome. But Ivanka Trump had other plans for his evening, he believes.

“Thank you @CafeMilanoDC  Franco Nuschese!” Andrés tweeted, addressing Cafe Milano’s owner. “I was a guest of the #alfalfaclubdinner2018 ‘everyone’ welcome to the after party, but I’m the only individual not allow in? Is because @IvankaTrump told you so? You should be ashamed of yourself Franco.@washingtonpost”

The chef also responded to a critic:

Andrés has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump’s, particularly on the president’s racist remarks against Hispanics and his inaction on Puerto Rico. The chef, as of late, has focused more on his own actions and how his organization could help the island following last year’s horrifying hurricane season.

As The New York Times has reported:

Since he hit the ground five days after the hurricane devastated this island of 3.4 million on Sept. 20, he has built a network of kitchens, supply chains and delivery services that as of Monday had served more than 2.2 million warm meals and sandwiches. No other single agency — not the Red Cross, the Salvation Army nor any government entity — has fed more people freshly cooked food since the hurricane, or done it in such a nurturing way.

Some on Twitter were quick to jump to the activist’s defense, detailing the account while criticizing the president’s daughter and adviser:
