White House Physician Says He Has ‘Absolutely No Concerns’ About Trump’s Cognitive or Mental Ability

‘President Did Exceedingly Well’

Dr. Ronny Jackson, the White House physician, says he had no intention of doing a cognitive assessment of the president’s mental health when he performed President Trump’s annual physical last week. But Trump asked him to do one after multiple media reports have questioned the President’s mental wellness.

The “president did exceedingly well” in the cognitive screening, a basic test of a patient’s mental health and a test of whether or not a patient might have or be showing signs of dementia.

Dr. Jackson stressed he had “absolutely no concerns” about President Trump’s cognitive ability, adding he sees him several times a day because his office is close to the President’s.

“The president is very sharp,” and will remain healthy for the rest of his tenure as president, Jackson said.

Reporters spent a significant amount of time asking Dr. Jackson questions, including why Trump slurred his words recently. Jackson said he had prescribed Sudafed to the president which may have dried him out too much.

“I feel very confident” Trump will remain healthy throughout his presidency.

Jackson is a one-star Navy admiral who also served as President Barack Obama’s White House physician.
