Yes, Donald Trump Is on the Shortlist for TIME’s Person of the Year. So Are Robert Mueller and the #MeToo Movement

Will 2017 Be a Repeat of 2016?

This Year’s TIME Person of the Year will truly be a summation of 2017. Just over a week ago President Trump strangely tweeted he had been called by TIME and told he was on the shortlist, then claimed he blew them off because they wanted to take photos. TIME strongly refuted that claim.

And yet, of course, Trump is one of the ten TIME finalists.

Understandable since the award isn’t for merit or achievement, but for “the person or group of people who most influenced the news during the past year, for better or for worse.”

Trump was 2016’s TIME Person of the Year.

Also on the list, making this a true test of 2017: Robert Mueller, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, President of China Xi Jinping, the #MeToo movement, Colin Kaepernick, Jeff Bezos who owns The Washington Post and Amazon.com, The Dreamers, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman.

Basically, Trump has picked a fight with or is on the opposite side of about half the list.
