More Than One Million Acres in California Have Burned So Far This Year

Not the typical morning commute…” is how Twitter user A. Mutzabaugh CMT‏ described this video of their drive this morning on what appears to be an LA freeway.

It’s going viral, with likes and retweets having tripled in just a few minutes after we first saw it.

The City of Los Angeles has issued mandatory evacuations, and warned others to “BE PREPARED” because they may be next. 

“A dramatic 50-acre brush fire erupted Wednesday morning in the Sepulveda Pass area of Los Angeles, prompting mandatory evacuation orders and the complete closure of the 405 Freeway at the scene, authorities said,” KABC News reports. The page has over a dozen videos of the fires.

Thousands of homes are threatened, and tens of thousands of people have been forced to evacuate.

The AP reports more than one million acres in California have burned so far this year. 

President Trump Wednesday morning posted a tweet offering “thoughts and prayers” to “everyone in the path of California’s wildfires.”
