Sarah Sanders Brags ‘We Have a Really Diverse Team’ After Omarosa Exits Trump’s White House (Video)

‘We Always Want to Continue to Grow the Diversity Here’

Omarosa Manigault was the only Black senior staffer in the Trump White House when she was fired Wednesday. With the exception of Housing Secretary Ben Carson, who does not work in the White House, there are no other Black officials “among Trump’s more than three dozen cabinet members and senior staff,” according to The Washington Post.

Asked about the stunning lack of diversity Manigault’s firing highlights, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded by bragging about the “really diverse team” in the Trump White House.

“Look, we have a really diverse team across the board at the White House. We always want to continue to grow the diversity here, we’re going to continue to do that,” she told reporters at Thursday’s press briefing.

Asked how many in the White House are African American, Huckabee Sanders said, “I don’t have a number, directly in front of me specifically, not African American but I can say, again, we have a very diverse team at the White House, certainly a very diverse team in the press office.”

“Something that we strive for everyday is to add and now and be more diverse and representative of the country at large and we’re going to continue to do that.”

Huckabee Sanders also could not answer why Manigault is being paid through January 20 since she is no longer working at the White House.
