Roy Moore Deletes From Facebook an Article Noting Doug Jones Has a Gay Son After News Sites Highlight Post
Moore Taking Loss Especially Hard
“Judge” Roy Moore appears to have been taking his stunning loss to Democrat Doug Jones very hard. Aside from refusing to concede, now nine days after the election he lost by 21,000 votes, Moore has taken to posting articles on Facebook he apparently thinks explain why he lost.
As Raw Story’s Brad Reed first reported Thursday morning, Moore posted to Facebook an article from the conspiracy theory website WND (formerly known as WorldNetDaily), titled, “How Muslims and Marxists delivered for Doug Jones.”Â
Moore also posted to his Judge Roy Moore for Senate 2017 Facebook page an article from The Advocate, “Doug Jones’s Gay Son Is ‘Thrilled’ by the Alabama Win.”
But apparently, after articles in Raw Story, music-focused website SPIN, and The Daily Beast all highlighting those posts, Moore has removed (or made private) the post linking to The Advocate’s story about Jones’ gay son Carson Jones.Â
SPIN appears to have embedded the Facebook post. It now has a Facebook-originated message saying, “This Facebook post is no longer available. It may have been removed or the privacy settings of the post may have changed.”
Raw Story and The Daily Beast screenshotted the post, and those images still appear in their stories.
“Unless Roy Moore has suddenly become an LGBT advocate,” The Daily Beast writes, “and is celebrating his own electoral defeat at the hands of Jones (let us know Roy! we’ll send a rainbow flag over!), and celebrating the presence of Carson as a happy, out gay man, there is only one reason that Moore linked to the interview on his page: to signal that Doug Jones has a gay son, and generate as much poison as he can from that from his supporters.”
If true, it worked.
Raw Story notes “Moore’s followers quickly responded with homophobic comments attacking Jones’s son.”
“Shame they slander a great Alabamian Judge Moore and then the sick left winner shows its perversion,†wrote one.
“Obviously Jone’s (sic) was an absent father for his son to be a homosexual, if the election continues as is he won’t be much of a Senator either,†wrote another.
Of course, Roy Moore built his political career on the backs of the LGBT community, and believes gay people should be jailed, so it’s no surprise his supporters are homophobic.Â
