Parents Furious After Ivanka Trump Shows Up Unannounced at Connecticut High School

School Cites Security Concerns as Reason for Not Informing Parents

Advisor to the President and First Daughter Ivanka Trump showed up unannounced at a Connecticut high school Monday and parents are furious. Some are saying they deserved to have been told ahead of time and given the opportunity to not allow their children to attend school that day.

Trump visited Norwalk Early College Academy, part of Norwalk High School and a joint project between Norwalk Community College and IBM. Trump was accompanied by IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, who The Daily News reports “developed the NECA academic model.”

News12 New Jersey reports some parents pulled their children out of school upon learning Ivanka Trump was there.

“This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons,” Karey Fitzgerald told News 12. “I think we should have had the choice to send our child to school or keep them home.”

It’s unclear what security concerns would have prevented administrators from telling parents Trump would be at the school.
