Judge Rules Against Roy Moore’s Demand to Halt Certification of Election Results Declaring Doug Jones the Winner

Democrat Will Be the Next US Senator From Alabama

Democrat Doug Jones will become the next U.S. Senator from Alabama after a Hail Mary attempt by “Judge” Roy Moore failed. Moore sued the State of Alabama demanding the Secretary of State not certify the results of the December 12 special election, which Moore lost by nearly 21,000 votes.

Just 14 hours before the scheduled certification, Moore filed a lawsuit to halt certification, claiming widespread voter fraud. Moore, who during the election had said the last time America had been great was when slavery was still legal, insisted large numbers of Black voters casting ballots for Jones was “highly unusual.” He also insisted a elections expert claimed the chances of those votes being properly cast were one in a billion.

That elections expert trades in conspiracy theories.

As AL.com reports, minutes ago the judge denied Moore’s request.

Moore never conceded the race, but continued his fundraising campaign well after the election, asking supporters to donate to his election integrity program.

Moore was accused during his campaign of sexual assault and child sexual assault, and the aggressive pursuit of teenaged girls.
