Watch: Trump Signs GOP Tax Bill Into Law, Claims It’s ‘The Largest Tax Cuts in Our History’ (It’s Not)

‘The Numbers Will Speak’ Trump Promises

Out of the blue, President Donald Trump decided to sign the GOP tax-cuts-for-the-rich bill into law late Friday morning, tweeting, “Will be signing the biggest ever Tax Cut and Reform Bill in 30 minutes.”

He did. Except it is not the largest tax cut bill in history. Not at all.

The White House did not post a live feed, there was no large ceremony – which is stunning, given Trump’s endless need for adulation – but reporters were allowed in to take photos and video.

Trump told the press he was going to wait for January but “then I watched the news this morning (something he repeatedly claims he does n to have time for) and they were all saying, ‘Will he keep his promise? Will he sign it by Christmas?'”

“I called downstairs and said, ‘Get it ready, we’re going to sign it now.'”

Trump did not address the broken campaign promises the GOP tax cut bill makes, including that he promised no cuts to Medicare.

13 million people will lose health care coverage under this bill as well. The legislation repeals the individual mandate, which will make insurance bought through the ObamaCare health exchanges substantially more expensive, as less people will be buying insurance.

“The number will speak,” Trump told reporters.
