Heather Heyer’s Mother Forced to Hide Slain Activist’s Grave From Neo-Nazis

Susan Bro, the mother of slain activist Heather Heyer, has revealed that she’s had to hide the location of her daughter’s grave from white supremacist neo-Nazis.

“It’s a symptom of hate in society that you should have to protect your child’s grave, for Pete’s sake,” Bro told The Daily Beast. “So, I’m protecting my child now.”

Heyer was murdered this year on August 12th while she was protesting a white supremacist neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville. Bro said that the location of Heyer’s ashes cannot be publicly revealed “because of all those extremists who profess their hatred for Heyer and Bro, and who convey their continued threats of violence toward Bro and others of Heyer’s family.”

“She visits Heyer there in peace, and other members of the family and close friends have been to the location,” the outlet continued, “or will be told in time where the place is and taken there.”

They further advised that Heyer’s grave remains secret to protect those who work at the location. Since Heyer’s death, white supremacist neo-Nazis have returned to Charlottesville, tiki torches in hand.

Bro further asserted that she is “starting to come to” the conclusion that Donald Trump shares responsibility for her daughter’s death. “He definitely pushes forward a hateful agenda,” she said. “There are family members that will possibly not have anything to do with me for saying so. Many family members are strong Trump supporters, and continue to be so despite everything they see.”

Following Heyer’s death, Donald Trump refused to denounce white supremacism. He subsequently doubled down on his belief that violence occurred “on many sides.”

Bro continues to honor her daughter’s legacy. This year, she created the Heather Heyer Foundation, a not for profit corporation designed to promote social change.

The man who allegedly took Heyer’s life now faces a charge of first-degree murder. He faces a grand jury on Monday, December 18th.
