GOP Tax Scam Bill Heads to Trump’s Desk for Signing, Subsequent Plundering of Economy on Backs of Low and Middle-Income Americans

Law Will Increase Taxes for Many Americans Who Can Least Afford It

It’s done. House and Senate Republicans and President Donald Trump have finally scored what they and their base see as the first legislative win under the Trump administration: passage of the GOP “tax scam” bill. The House, forced to vote a second time on the bill it passed Tuesday because of legislation errors, Wednesday afternoon voted 224-201 to pass the bill. No Democrats voted yes and 12 Republicans voted no. The Senate had already passed the bill in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

The bill will add $1.5 trillion to the debt, and will increase taxes for many Americans, especially those who can least afford it.

It will soon be on its way to President Trump’s desk for signing – although it will likely be sent to Mar-a-Lago, where Trump is headed on vacation.

The President will host a Republicans-only victory celebration at thew White House at 3 PM today.

Perhaps the most important note in this vote is Senator Susan Collins, frequently viewed as a “moderate” Republican, who has at times voted against GOP bills, including ObamaCare repeal, voted for this tax-cuts-for-the-rich bill. That’s after she claimed she was considering not voting for it, and then claimed provisions to shore up ObamaCare would be included in the bill.

They were not.

In fact, Sen. Collins and Sen. Lamar Alexander asked for the provisions they had promised voters would be included, to be removed.
