Fox News Contributor Speculates FBI Might Have Been Plotting an Assassination Attempt Against Donald Trump

‘Oh, It’s Been Floated’

Even a co-host on “Outnumbered” was stunned when Fox News contributor Kevin Jackson casually suggested that the FBI may have been plotting an assassination attempt against Donald Trump.

Republicans and conservatives for weeks have been ginning up false claims and conspiracy theories surrounding special counsel Robert Mueller and his team of investigators looking into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election and any possible collusion or illegal acts by Donald Trump or any members of his campaign, transition team, administration, or family members.

Why?

Because like most Americans they pretty sure Mueller’s investigation will lead to Donald Trump, and they’re doing their best to try to discredit Mueller and his team so any allegations, evidence, or charges from the investigation are seen by the American people as tainted and the fruit of bad intent, and this not credible.

It’s a disgusting attack on decency, the reputations of the men and women who have served their nation well, and an attack on the very fabric of our democracy.

And Fox News, whose owner, Rupert Murdoch, is BFFs with Donald Trump, is leading the charge.

Right now the rabid right is foaming at the mouth over a text message sent by FBI agent Peter Strzok in August of 2016 in which he suggests an “insurance policy” is needed against Trump.

“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s [Andrew McCabe, Deputy Director of the FBI] office—that there’s no way [Trump] gets elected—but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40,” he wrote.

Tuesday on Fox News’ “Outnumbered,” that was translated into a possible assassination attempt, without a shred of evidence, and despite a Wall Street Journal report making clear the insurance policy was the FBI’s Russia probe.

But here’s how Fox News contributor Kevin Jackson sees it, and said it, on Fox News, to “Outnumbered” co-host Harris Faulkner’s shock.

Below, the transcript, above, the video, both via Media Matters.

JACKSON: Well, I think they’re going to say, is it — what was his intent, right? Because that’s exactly what FBI Director, former FBI Director [James] Comey said when he was letting Hillary Clinton off the hook. And his intent, regardless of whether it was an assassination attempt or whatever, it was definitely something —

FAULKNER: Whoa, whoa.

JACKSON: Well, I’m just saying, we don’t know what it was. When you say, “we’ve got to make sure that this guy doesn’t get in at all cost,” what does that mean? So I’m saying there’s a spectrum of what does it mean, but one thing that we know for sure, is that he was plotting in an election against a candidate, and there’s FBI fingerprints all over this.

FAULKNER: All right, because I know how things get clipped on social media, I just want to make sure that we press in on the fact that no one has floated any sort of an idea that it was [INAUDIBLE]

JACKSON: Oh, it’s been floated. When I talk about this, I’m talking about social media stuff and, you know, that’s out there, I’m not talking about media sources.

Stunning.
