Former Trump National Security Advisor Mike Flynn to Plead Guilty to Making False Statements to FBI

‘Willfully and Knowingly’ Making ‘False, Fictitious and Fraudulent Statements’

Mike Flynn has cut a deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller. At 10:30 AM Friday Flynn, who served as President Trump’s National Security Advisor, will plead guilty to making false statements to the FBI. The guilty plea is related to Flynn’s comments about speaking with Russia about U.S. sanctions.

Specifically, Flynn is charged with “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious and fraudulent statements.”

Speculation among journalists is that Flynn is pleading guilty in exchange for giving further information to the Special Counsel, possibly on Trump administration officials.

MSNBC’s Ari Melber says there is “implied cooperation” between Flynn and Mueller.
