Congressional Democrats Just Gave Voters a Huge Reason to Flip the House to Blue

‘It Is Our Obligation … to Hold the Trump Administration Accountable for Its Destructive Policies and Unprecedented Misconduct’

Democrats in the House just gave voters who care about our democracy and the rule of law a strong reason to flip the House to Democratic control next November.

House Democrats just elected Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, to replace Rep. John Conyers who resigned amid sexual misconduct allegations.

Why is this a huge motivating factor?

The House Judiciary Committee is where impeachment proceedings would be introduced, and if Democrats take the House, Nadler would become Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

“This is a pivotal time, with our country possibly on the verge of a constitutional crisis,” Nadler told his colleagues before the vote, Politico reports. “We cannot afford to make this choice based on anything but who is the best person to sit in that chair.”

Rep. Nadler also just issued a statement strongly suggesting if Democrats win the House back in November, he will move to impeach President Trump.

It is our obligation to be steadfast in working for criminal justice reform, to be vigilant in protecting women’s rights, including the right to an abortion, promote greater equality for members of the LGBTQ community, to demand action on common sense gun laws, to support consumers and oversee antitrust concerns, and to hold the Trump Administration accountable for its destructive policies and unprecedented misconduct. This Committee has a responsibility to uphold our laws and ensure justice.”

“As Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, I will do everything in my power to pursue these important goals, and look forward to working with my colleagues on the Committee in continuing the march towards justice,” Rep. Nadler added.

Should the Democrats win back the House next year, with Nadler as Chairman, the House would be all but guaranteed to move forward on impeachment.

Are you registered to vote? Now would be a good time to check.
