44 Percent of Republicans Believe Trump Has Repealed ObamaCare

Three Out of Ten Americans Think President Has Repealed Health Care Law

If anyone need more proof that Trumpism is a cult and Republicans will believe anything their leaders tell them, try to wrap your head around this: almost half – 44 percent – of Republicans believe President Donald Trump has repealed ObamaCare.

To be clear, not only has President Trump, fortunately, not kept his promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act, but a strong majority of Americans (57%) now like and support ObamaCare.

A YouGov survey of 1500 Americans taken between December 24 and 26 finds 44% of Republicans, 40% of conservatives, and 40% of people who voted for Trump all believe the president has successfully repealed ObamaCare.

President Trump has repeatedly lied, claiming he has repealed ObamaCare and has “essentially repealed” ObamaCare, after signing in to law his tax-cuts-for-the-rich bill that also repeals the individual mandate. ObamaCare, or the Affordable Care Act, is much more than that, and it is much more than the health care exchanges.

Overall, 31% of Americans, which is about where Trump’s approval rating generally sits, think he has repealed the health care law. Nearly half of Americans (49%) correctly responded that he has not, and about one in five (21%) don’t know.
