So it comes as no surprise that President Trump was able to keep silent about Mike Flynn pleading guilty to lying to the FBI for just 24 hours before going off on Saturday morning.

His attacks escalated Saturday night and now Sunday morning, with embarrassingly blatant attempts to discredit the FBI, Jim Comey, and ABC News for an incorrect story the network ran, then later corrected and ultimately suspended without pay the reporter responsible.

Here’s a sampling of Trump’s weekend madness:

First, he actually defends “General Flynn,” who doesn’t deserve being addressed as “General” after being fired twice by two different presidents. Then he compares Flynn’s lying to the FBI (while ignoring a plethora of other illegal acts that Flynn may have committed) to Hillary Clinton’s testimony over the July 4 holiday weekend, which lasted several hours. Trump claims she lied “many times,’ but offers zero proof to back up that claim.

Then he attacks his own Justice Dept.

He attacks his own FBI:

He again attacks a San Francisco jury in the Kate Steinle case, which he used as a tool to get elected, only to be found wrong on the facts. The undocumented immigrant was found not guilty in the killing of Steinle. So Trump continues his sad song insisting there is no justice in America – a very dangerous position, especially for a president, to take.

Trump claims, despite evidence to the contrary, and testimony from other Republicans he used similar language on them, that he never asked Jim Comey to stop the Flynn investigation. And he attacks Comey as a liar. In a court of law Trump would easily be found guilty.

After retweeting praise from his press secretary and Chris Christie, Trump retweets insanely partisan attacks based on recent news that special counsel Robert Mueller removed a top investigator who may have sent anti-Trump texts. Mueller’s actions clearly were an attempt to avoid any perception of bias, not the result of the investigator’s work.

In the texts, The New York Times reported, “Mr. Strzok and a colleague reacted to news events, like presidential debates, in ways that could appear critical of Mr. Trump.”

F.B.I. regulations allow agents to express opinions “as an individual privately and publicly on political subjects and candidates.”

Naturally, the right is using the news to bolster Trump and so is Trump. Here are his retweets:

Trump doubles down:

More long-debunked conspiracy theories:

Trump also attacks ABC News, spins dubious claim people lost money in the stock market. The DOW dropped 350 points on the Flynn guilty plea news, and it’s likely the ABC News’ story, originally saying that Flynn would testify against Trump and his family members, played a part. The markets regained their losses in a few hours. Meanwhile, Trump himself has caused several market drops by making irresponsible claims.

Meanwhile, back to reports questioning if Trump is mentally fit to hold office…
