Sarah Sanders Actually Just Said Racial Slurs Are Wrong, ‘Pocahontas’ Not a Racial Slur, Elizabeth Warren a Liar

‘She Lied About Something Specifically to Advance Her Career’ Press Secretary Falsely Claims

Not even an hour after President Trump called Senator Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas” at an event honoring Native American code talkers, Sarah Huckabee Sanders agreed the president should not use racial slurs – but insisted calling Warren “Pocahontas” was not a slur.

“I don’t believe it is appropriate for him to make a racial slur or anybody else,” Huckabee Sanders said, adding that it was not his “intent” to use a racial slur.

Huckabee Sanders said Warren has claimed Native American heritage to advance her career, which is false, although she has stated she has Cherokee and Delaware Indian heritage.

The White House press secretary also called Sen. Warren a liar.

“I think that Sen. Warren was very offensive when she lied about something specifically to advance her career,” which is false.

Huckabee Sanders also said she does not understand why Warren’s ancestry isn’t “constantly covered.”

After Monday’s press briefing, ABC News’ Tara Palmieri said President Trump frequently uses the term “Pocahontas,” and would prefer to risk offending an entire minority group if he can serve his base “political catnip.”
