Trump Responds to Senator Flake’s Hot Mic Commentary on GOP Being ‘Toast,’ Believes He’s Your Favorite President

“Saying Bad Things About Your Favorite President”

Donald Trump returned to Twitter late Sunday to berate Senator Jeff Flake and to double down on his take that that he should have left American citizens in a foreign jail.

On Friday, Arizona’s retiring Republican Senator Jeff Flake was caught criticizing the GOP and Donald Trump on hot mic.

“If we become the party of Roy Moore and Donald Trump, we are toast,” Flake said, though not privately, as the conversation was picked up by local ABC affiliate KNXV.

The Senator later advised that this wasn’t news. “I’ve been saying this to anyone who will listen,” Flake subsequently tweeted.

“Sen. Jeff Flake(y), who is unelectable in the Great State of Arizona (quit race, anemic polls) was caught (purposely) on ‘mike’ saying bad things about your favorite President,” the president tweeted. “He’ll be a NO on tax cuts because his political career anyway is ‘toast.’”

Trump then turned his ire back to LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo Ball, one of three UCLA basketball players accused of shoplifting in China.

“Shoplifting is a very big deal in China, as it should be (5-10 years in jail), but not to father LaVar,” Trump tweeted. “Should have gotten his son out during my next trip to China instead. China told them why they were released. Very ungrateful!”

In a statement following their return to the United States, LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill personally thanked the president for his assistance in the matter. Ball’s father’s lack of subsequent praise, however, apparently overshadowed this for Donald Trump.

The tweet marks the second time in one day that the President of the United States entertained the idea of leaving an American citizen in a foreign jail.
