Trump Now Telling People He Thinks the ‘Access Hollywood’ Tape Could Be Fake. (It’s Not.)

Trump in 2016: ‘I Said It. I Was Wrong. And I Apologize.’ Trump in 2017: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

President Donald Trump is a serial liar, but there are some things that are just too clearly factual that to lie about. Or so you would think.

On October 7, just a month before the 2016 election, millions of Americans heard Donald Trump brag about committing sexual assault on what has become known as the “Access Hollywood” tape.

That tape included, among others, these offensive remarks, all made by Donald Trump:

“When you’re a star, they let you do it.”

“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it.”

“I did try and f— her. She was married.”

“And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’”

“I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married…Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”

“I’ve gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her… You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”

“Grab them by the pussy.”

“And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.”

In response, Trump actually apologized – something he is loathe to do, and rarely ever has – and tried to brush it off as just “locker room talk.”

In an on-air apology Trump told voters: “I said it. I was wrong. And I apologize.”

But now, 13 months later, Trump is trying to re-write history.

“As a recent New York Times report revealed, Trump has recently begun changing his story about even the most incontrovertible evidence, suggesting to a senator earlier this year that the Access Hollywood tape on which he was recorded bragging about sexually assaulting women is ‘not authentic,’ and more recently telling an adviser the same,” Vanity Fair reports Tuesday.

Apparently, that was not the only time Trump denied saying what millions of people have heard. On Monday night, Times reporter Maggie Haberman told CNN that a third person “close to Trump” had confirmed that the president expressed doubts about the tape’s veracity, saying, “he’s not certain it’s his voice.”

The reports have so unnerved the Access Hollywood team that their hosts responded during Monday’s broadcast. “Let us make this perfectly clear—the tape is very real,” said host Natalie Morales.“Remember, his excuse at the time was ‘locker-room talk.’ He said every one of those words.” Actress Arianne Zucker, who appeared on the Access Hollywood episode in which Trump made his comments, chimed in Monday night on CNN, telling Anderson Cooper, “I don’t know how else that could be fake unless someone’s planting words in your mouth.”
