Trump, in Japan, Just Told Foreign Diplomats He Didn’t Know There Were ‘So Many Countries’ Until He Won the Election

Trump Embarrasses America at Japan’s State Banquet

President Donald Trump repeatedly embarrasses the United States, especially when overseas, and his current trip to Asia is no different. On Monday, while in Japan at a press conference at a State Banquet at the Agasaka Palace in Tokyo, Trump continued his “charm offensive” by sharing a revealing anecdote.

The Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzō Abe, after delivering a speech, offered a toast to President Trump and the First Lady.

And then it was Trump’s turn at the podium. He began by insisting his weekend golfing with the Prime Minister was work, and continued to talk about golf.

Raw Story reports Trump then “appeared to go off-script from his prepared remarks,” calling the Japanese Prime Minister by his first name, and offering insight into his pre-White House understanding of the world.

“So my relationship with Shinzo got off to quite a rocky start because I never ran for office, and here I am,” Trump told the foreign diplomats. “But I never ran, so I wasn’t very experienced. And after I had won, everybody was calling me from all over the world. I never knew we had so many countries.”
