Trump-Appointed Acting Director of CFPB Tells Employees to Ignore Directives From Actual Acting Director

More Proof Trump Is a Really Bad Manager

Mick Mulvaney just sent a memo to all employees of the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau instructing them to ignore all directives issued by the Acting Director of the Agency. Why? Over the weekend President Trump ignored the CFPB’s rules, which state if the agency’s director steps down, the deputy director becomes acting director. Trump has appointed him acting director, which he legally cannot do.

Technically, according to the independent agency’s rules and an actual appointment by its now-former director, who left last week, Leandra English is the Acting Director. But Republicans, including Donald Trump, hate the agency, first proposed by Elizabeth Warren before she became a U.S. Senator, so much that they will do anything to dismantle it. Trump claims he wants to being it back to life – he actually wants it dead. So does Mulvaney.

Mulvaney, known to many as Trump’s Budget director who often appears on cable news shows sharing less-than valid statements he presents as facts, is falsely acting as the acting director. So egregious is this move that English is suing the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, Monday morning, English sent all CFPB employees a memo welcoming them back from the long Thanksgiving weekend, saying it is an honor to work with them.

Mulvaney countered, sending an agency-wide email telling all employees to disregard directives from English.

To make matters even worse, the employees are now pawns in this war between the White House and the employees at the CFPB. It’s also being fueled by Mulvaney’s Office of Management and Budget communication director posting photos of him “hard at work.”

It should also be noted what a huge mistake it is to put Mulvaney at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, since the number one forces of congressional Republicans and Trump is supposedly the tax-cut-for-the-wealthy bill, which Mulvaney has a key role in. More proof of just what a bad manager Trump is.
