Senate Republican Group Pulls Plug on Financing Roy Moore’s Campaign

No GOP Group Has Officially Pulled Endorsement

Roy Moore will need to look for more funding, one month out from the election. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has pulled the plug on its financing agreement with the Alabama former state Supreme Court chief justice who is the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Jeff Sessions.

“Federal Election Commission paperwork filed on Friday showed that the National Republican Senatorial Committee is no longer listed as part of a joint fundraising committee with Moore’s campaign,” Politico reports.

The NRSC has not made any statements against Moore.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Alabama Republican Party still appear to be supporting Moore.

“The NRSC’s chair, Colorado senator Cory Gardner, released a statement Thursday saying Moore should drop out if the allegations are true,” The Weekly Standard reports. “Katie Martin, the committee’s communications director, did not respond to multiple requests for comment.”

President Donald Trump and his former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon are both still endorsing Moore.

Moore stands accused by one Alabama woman who says when she was 14 years old he brought her to his home and sexually assaulted her. The description in a Washington Post bombshell article could be a felonious act.

Three other women told the Post Moore attempted a sexual relationship with them also, when they were between the ages of 16 – 18. Moore at the time of all these allegations was in his 30’s. He denies the allegations.

Local GOP politicians have rushed to Moore’s defense. Senate Republicans have cloaked themselves in statements that question the women’s allegations, saying “if true,” Moore should quit the race.
