Protected by Christian Leaders Roy Moore Walks Out of Press Conference When Asked if He ‘Dated High School Girls’

‘Does Judge Roy Moore Categorically Deny He Dated High School Girls – Teenaged High School Girls When He Was in His 30’s?’

Thursday afternoon Roy Moore attended a press conference orchestrated by the far Christian Right. It was hosted by the anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-immigration, climate change denying, birther, conspiracy theorist, and activist fighting what she says is the “criminalization of Christianity,” Faith2Action’s President Janet Porter.

The press event was supposed to show America that faith leaders stand behind Roy Moore, but it ended with Roy Moore literally standing behind faith leaders – or, at least Porter – as he and his wife walked out of his own press conference when the questions became too hot for him to handle.

More on that later.

Because before the end, thee was the beginning.

Moore opened his remarks by talking about hemorrhoids. No, seriously.

That was the beginning. About a dozen faith leaders told reporters why they support “Judge” Moore, who twice was booted from his elected role as state Supreme Court Chief Justice for placing his Christian faith about federal law.

And then, after the faith leaders finished, Moore took the microphone.

“Moore thanked supporters for their words, and addressed the mounting allegations against him, calling them ‘untrue’ and slammed them as having ‘no evidence to support them,'” CBS News reports.

He said in response to those calling for him to step down from the Alabama race, “I’ll tell you who needs to step down, that’s Mitch McConnell.”

Janet Porter took back the microphone and asked reporters if they had questions. They all did, of Moore not her, and she told them Moore would not bet answering any questions. They were there to talk about “issues,” she insisted.

“The major issue here,” one enterprising reporter said, “is Judge, did you touch any of these women who have accused you of touching them? Just answer it unequivocally. This is a room of faith – God’s listening to you too. Answer the question please.”

“He’s already answered that question,” Porter insisted.

“Have you ever touched any of them sir?” the reporter demanded.

“Listen – He’s already answered that question,” Porter again insisted.

“Let him speak. He’s running for Senate, ma’am,” the reporter reminded Porter.

“Hush. He has spoken. Repeatedly. In fact I have heard him answer that question,” Porter scolded.

“Let him speak. He can answer the question,” the reporter insisted.

“We pay for this microphone,” Porter concluded, shutting down the reporter. “And what I want to say is, he’s answered that question repeatedly, and was answered sufficiently, and was on Sean Hannity.”

Porter went to the next reporter.

“Does Judge Roy Moore categorically deny he dated high school girls – teenaged high school girls when he was in his 30’s?”

Porter, speaking for Moore for some odd reason, replied: “You read his letter and it addresses that very clearly.”

The first reporter shouted, “Can he speak for himself please? Judge, you’re running for Senate!”

Porter again claimed because she “paid for the mic,” she made the rules.

And with that, Roy Moore, smiling, walked behind Janet Porter, out of his own press conference.
