Pat Robertson Praying Sexual Misconduct Allegations Are Truthful Because ‘Terrific People’ Are Being Ruined

‘It’s Been Happening a Long Time and Nobody Said Anything About It’

Pat Robertson has a different take on the recent wave of sexual assault allegations by women. The televangelist says in years long gone, women were expected to provide sexual favors for men, so no one should be shocked that men are engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior. And he’s praying that the stories being told by women are true, because the careers of a lot of “terrific people” are being ruined.

Robertson told his co-host that “sexual favors” were “standard stuff” years ago, as Right Wing Watch reports.

“Now it’s looked on as shocking but, folks, it’s been happening a long time and nobody said anything about it. Now they’re finally wising up, but I just hate to see some of these men’s careers—I mean, guys like Charlie Rose, these are terrific people and I hate to see it happen.”

His co-host also appeared to diminish the allegations, saying we don’t have all the facts about cases like Matt Lauer’s.

“These guys don’t have a trial, either,” Robertson continued. “They don’t have the rules of evidence to force these accusers to come forward with the preponderance of evidence is what you get in a trial. You don’t have that now, so these people’s careers are being ruined and we just hope and pray that these women are telling the truth.”

“We just hope and pray that the women are telling the truth. This ‘me too’ thing, ‘let me get in and do it,’ you got Roy Moore down in Alabama, he says, ‘I didn’t do any of it,'” Robertson said.
