NYPD Has a ‘Credible and Detailed’ Rape Allegation Against Harvey Weinstein and Says Arrest Possible

‘We Have Enough to Make an Arrest’

The New York City Police Dept. says it has a “credible and detailed” allegation of rape against Harvey Weinstein, and is continuing to gather evidence for a possible arrest.

Video via ABC News of an NYPD press conference also attended by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio:

“We have an actual case going forward,” NYPD chief of detectives Robert K. Boyce said, according to The New York Times. “If this person was still in New York and it was recent we would go right away and make the arrest, no doubt. But we’re talking about a seven-year-old case. And we have to move forward gathering evidence.”

The NYPD says the attacks are alleged to have happened in 2010, and add they would need to obtain an arrest warrant, noting Weinstein is out of state.

The Times and The Telegraph report the accuser is “Paz de la Huerta, 33, who appeared in the US television series Boardwalk Empire,” and “alleged both attacks took place in her own home about a month apart.”

Detective Nicholas DiGaudio, who is leading the Weinstein investigation in New York, told Vanity Fair: “I believe, based on my interviews with Paz, that from the New York Police Department standpoint we have enough to make an arrest.”

PEOPLE magazine reports there are 65 women who have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct. MSNBC and others have reported over 70. USA Today78 women have accused Weinstein of inappropriate to potentially criminal behavior ranging from requests for massages to intimidating sexual advances to rape. Weinstein has denied the allegations.”
