‘I Thought He Was Going to Rape Me’: New Accuser Says Roy Moore Sexually Assaulted Her When She Was 16

Beverly Young Nelson says Roy Moore sexually assaulted her when she was 16 years old. Nelson appeared with and was supported by her attorney, Gloria Allred, when she made her remarks.

Nelson, who says she supported Donald Trump, says that Moore signed her high school yearbook when she was 16: “To a sweeter more beautiful girl, I could not say Merry Christmas, Love, Roy Moore, D.A.”

Allred showed reporters what appeared to be the original yearbook with what she says are the remarks and signature of Roy Moore.

One week after Moore signed the yearbook, Nelson says, he later offered to drive her home when her boyfriend was late picking her up from her job as a waitress. Moore was a regular who frequently complimented her, she said.

Nelson explained to reporters that while in the car Moore “stopped the car in between the dumpsters in the back of the restaurant.”

“I was alarmed and asked him what he was doing.”

She says Moore grabbed her breasts, her neck, and forced her head into his crotch. 

“He was also trying to pull my shirt off. I thought he was going to rape me.”

“He said, ‘You’re just a child, and I am the District Attorney. And if you tell anyone no one will believe you,'” she says Moore told her.

Nelson says the following morning she was bruised “black and blue.”

She also says she was scared and told no one at the time. She says she quit her job at the restaurant the next day and never returned.

Nelson says she waited two years before she told her mother or anyone else. And she says the four other women who also charged sexual misconduct by Moore inspired her to come forward. She says she probably would have taken the alleged assault to her grave had those women not come forward.

Allred called on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena Moore to testify.
