MSNBC’s Hugh Hewitt Proposes ‘Option’ to Disrupt Alabama Senate Race to Keep Seat for GOP

Shameful and Despicable

Far right wing pundit Hugh Hewitt, who has an early morning show Saturdays on MSNBC and is an all-too frequent commentator on the network weekdays, has just offered what can only be described as a an ugly and immoral “rigging,” or disruption, subverting the Alabama election with the goal of ensuring the open U.S. Senate seat goes to a Republican in the wake of the Roy Moore alleged child sexual assault scandal.

This is how banana republics operate, not America.

When Jeff Sessions became attorney general, then Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, under investigation and ensnared in his own sex scandal, appointed his attorney general, Luther Strange, to Sessions’ seat. A special election was called, as is proper. Strange, endorsed by President Trump, lost to “Judge” Roy Moore in the primary process.

Moore, now accused of attempted child rape and child sexual assault, will face Democrat Doug Jones on December 12. The outcome of that election will determine if Sessions’ former seat goes to a Democrat or a Republican, and Republicans are so loathe to loose the seat some are actually defending Moore’s alleged actions.

Meanwhile, Hugh Hewitt has a novel idea, right up there with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s immoral decision to prevent President Barack Obama from filling a U.S. Supreme Court seat when Justice Antonin Scalia died.

In other words, underhanded, sleazy, and un-American.

Hewitt’s idea: Get Sen. Luther Strange to quit, so the new Alabama governor can appoint a new Senator, and start everything from scratch again.

Shameful and despicable.

Former Obama-era DOJ spokesperson, also an MSNBC contributor, was not impressed with Hewitt’s proposed shenanigans.

Why MSNBC employs Hewitt is beyond comprehension.
