Bill Text to Be Officially Released Thursday AM
Chad Pergram is an award-winning reporter covering Congress for Fox News. Thursday morning, as House Republicans gathered to learn details of their long-awaited “tax reform” bill leadership was supposed to have released Wednesday (but will not until 11:15 AM Thursday,) Pergram asked them about the legislation.
He tweeted some of the details lawmakers shared with him, in Republican-speak of course:
Pergram then asked one Congressman, who asked to not be named, his thoughts on the tax-reform bill: “I think it sucks,” he responded.
Apparently, if all goes according to plan, GOP lawmakers are planning to not argue specifics, but stick together on the bill. Then “torch” it, he says.
We can only hope.Â
If the tax cuts benefitting mostly rich Americans does not pass, President Trump will have gone a full year without passing one major or substantive piece of legislation. That would be a record – and a very good thing for the country.
